Bodoni: Typographic Blocks

The purpose of this project was to choose a typeface and create a set of six-sided cubes based on the essence of the letterforms. Each side of the block, 2.5", depicts the uniqueness of the typeface, but also works cohesively with the other sides and also within the theme of the larger set. I chose to create pieces based on the typeface Bodoni because I was drawn to its elegance and use within the fashion industry. I decided to designate each block with an adjective that describes the typeface: dazzling, Parisian, fashionable, classical, beautiful, and timeless. Using Photoshop, I heavily manipulated images and letters to display Bodoni in a new and modernized manner, based on my interpretations of the typeface. I created new mechanisms to highlight Bodoni's alternating thick and thin strokes by inventing new ways to display it as a headline, while keeping its integrity. Each block's six sides are displayed below, compiled into pages.
